A Star — Barbershop

4.654 Google reviews

A corner shop under five gold stars — and a lot going on behind the glass. Barbers and braiders, a lady barber, beauty treatments, and the A-Star Juice Bar inside. Reviewers keep coming back to the same word: friendly.

About the shop

More than a barbershop

A Star takes up the corner of Lewisham Way and Oscar Street, and it uses the space. The chairs and braiding stations come first — reviewers praise the friendly staff (13 mentions), the atmosphere, and braiding work by Meeka and Micah, who get singled out for children's hair.

Donna, the lady barber reviewers mention, also runs the beauty side listed on the window — facials, massage, waxing and more (one reviewer thanks her for post-op lymphatic drainage). And running through the middle of it all is the A-Star Juice Bar; one reviewer stayed for the patties. Few barbershops can offer a haircut, a braid and a juice in one visit.

Hours are generous: until 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and a Sunday shift from noon. No prices are published anywhere, so check the board in the shop.
